Secret Place Poem

I see it from the corner of my eye.  Looks very big.
I smell it from miles away. Its been there for years.
I  taste emptyness. I shouldn't have to taste it.
I hear  loud annoying voices. They are always there and talking
I feel its roughness on my skin.

"Third Quarter Goals Reflection."

One of my goals for this quarter is to get at least to get a 3.0 or higher. I have gotten above a 3.0 before by just doing my homework and turning in my assignments. Therefore it's pretty easy just to turn in assignments.  To achieve this goal I have been turning in everything Ms. Priester has been giving me.  I am doing very well this quarter. Last quarter my grades were horrible, for me do bring my grades up like that is very exciting to me. It feels good to turn in my homework.  Right now I’m pretty happy about my grade and at the end of the quarter I should still have that good grade.

"Poetry Experience Paragraph."

I don’t feel excited about studying poetry because it doesn’t seem fun. I know that when your write poetry it can rhyme. Also, you can write about whatever you feel inside. Another thing I know about poetry is that it make people feel better when they write things down. I have not studied poetry before. It doesn’t seem like it’s something I absolutely have to learn about. I have read about poetry before in middle school. Like I said it’s not something I like to learn about. I also, don’t write poetry for fun. During this unit I hope it will be fun to learn about it. Maybe this time it will be something that I enjoy reading.

Symbolism and Allegory Unit Reflection.

Over the past few weeks my classmates and I have been studying about symbolism and allegory. I have learned about symbolism by reading "The Grandfather." By Gary Soto. One assignment that I have learned about sybolism is by completing my poster assignment. Also I learned about allegory by reading "The Skull and the Arrow." Another assignment that I did to understand was the graphic organizer. Graphic organizers are useful because they help me sort out information so I could learn better. One of my favorite symbolism assignment was the tree trunk paragraph we had to do because I love talking about my mom. Also, my favorite allegory assignment was the skull and the arrow cave paragraph because it was fun learning about it. Symbolism and allegory changed my thinking because I thought allegory was going to be easy but it was hard.

“The Skull and the Arrow” Underdog Paragraph.

There are several things that motivate underdogs to perform at their best. The highest motivation for underdogs to win is that they have something to prove to those that have labeled them underdogs. The underdog feels that they have to show the world that they are someone to not take lightly. Another thing that motivates the underdog is that they have nothing to lose, which can mean that they take more risks. Lastly, sometimes being the underdog can mean that they have other talents to show. A sports player may not be a good player, but may be a good referee or coach.

"Third Quarter Goals."

An accomplishment I had from 2010 was that I had above a 3.0 G.P.A. I was playing volleyball in the beginning of year so I did my homework to play. You had to have a 3.0 to play, and I really wanted to play. Last years in eighth grade I had horrible grades. It was really easy just to do my homework and pay attention.

Three goals that I have for 2011 are to get at least a 3.5. Another thing is to turn in all my missing assignments. Also, try not to quit a sport.

One goal I have is to get at least a 3.5
• My house parents are doing everything they can to help me a 3.5

Another goal I have is to turn in all my missing assignments.
• I have to work twice as hard so that I can get off two hour.

Finally, I have to try not to quit a sport.
• I have to try stay committed to my team

“The Grandfather” Three Meanings of the Tree Paragraph.

I think that the most symbolic item in "The Grandfather" is the avocado tree. The tree represents the grandfather because like the tree he is living. Also, for the narrator it represents strength because when the seed of the tree was growing into a stump, he was growing older into an adult. I feel that the grandfather's family stands for the avocados because a family doesn’t grow without kids; in this case the kids are the avocados. In other words the more the family grows. Families are like trees because as the tree ages some of the branches will pass away and decline, and more will appear.

"The Grandfather" Important Person Paragraph

The person that significant to me is my mom. I chose a flower buttercup. The reason I chose this is because the five petals on the flower represent things about my mom. One similarity that my mom and the buttercup have in common is that she's funny. When someone tickles you with a flower it fells tingly, which make you want to laugh. The next one stands for caring. Sometimes people buy you flowers it shows you how much they care about you. Last but not least, it reminds me of my mom because its yellow and yellow represents happiness and joy. If I told my mom about this description I think she would love it.

House Symbol.

I think that the strength symbol symbolizes our house which is Girls 2. To most people, this item is very important. Its important because people need strength in order to function. But to us it represents to do the right thing and to follow your passion. In Greek strength means to make a mark. In other words it means what kind of mark do you want to make on the world, or what kind of legacy do you want to leave behind. Our house has strength.

Winter Break Narrative

For the second week of Christmas break I came back form pass to spend it with some of my house mates. The county social worker's gave us a two hundred dollar gift card to Wal Mart so we can get stuff that we need. I really didn't know what to get. I thought I had everything I needed. Chelsea, Jacinta, and I were at the food section, and Chelsea saw these things called Combos which are these pretzel things that taste like pizza. Then Jacinta saw them and they both started to get all loud and crazy about it. They were talking about how their mom used to buy them it when they were kids. Then we went home, Chelsea asked me if I ever eaten one of these things and I said no. She gave me one and we shared a moment, she was my first person to try Combos and know I'm in love with them.
